    Description

    This is a
FINE BIG NATIVE AMERICAN HAND CARVED NAVAJO CLOWN DANCER 13" KACHINA DOLL signed V. KEETO from the late 1980's
.  This is a Navajo piece made in AZ based on what I could find of his other pieces.  It is really well done and in great paint & good condition!
The representation of the Deity is clothed in
leather straps at its wrist waist & legs.  It has a paint decorated leather garment too.   Lots of hair around the painted wooden head and neck.  No feathers just leather tassels at the top of his head on the ends of the Jester horns.  He also carried a Medicine Bag around his neck!   In his hand he carries a Knife in his left.  Whatever he had in his rt is missing as he lost a thumb, probably in a Knife fight.  This figurine is mounted on a wood base and accents the natural aspect of this carved wood figurine.
This masterful piece measures 13" tall to the top of the horns.  He is approx 8
" Wide from hand to hand x about 5.5" Wide at the base.  He's a good one cuz its hard to find the Clown figures like this!  And he even has a Watermelon at his feet, possibly what he is fighting over.
The bottom of the round wooden base is written Clown and the name V Keeto.  Possibly the brother of the Kachina carver Henry Keeto, unsure.   This is most probably from the 80's or early 90's as I found another piece by V that was dated 1989.   This guy still has the original 75.00 price tag from when it was purchased by this family back when it was new.
