Vintage Hopi 12.5" WARRIOR KACHINA Doll Katsina Hand Carved by J Namingha c1970s
This fantastic Warrior (
Ewiro
) kachina katsina doll was hand carved in the 1970s by famous Hopi carver J. Namingha.
This particular katsina is an old Third Mesa version. He has wonderful detail adornments including the feather headdress, hide wrap, the shield tied around him and hanging at his right side, yarn ties at his wrist and knees, and yucca tied around his head as well as bundled together and carried as whips. This
katsina appears at the dance and whips the clowns and he also functions as a policeman for the cleaning of the springs.
Stands at about 12 1/2" tall. Hallmarked by the Hopi artisan. Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
